We are together… we are One… ! We are together… we are One… ! This refrain is well known and is even sung in every corner of the national territory. But more than a simple refrain to maintain an atmosphere of festive communion, it is a commitment to the future. For anyone familiar with the history of our country, this declaration is far from accidental.
This public declaration of unity, of indivisibility, is a deliberate reminder, with a memorable resonance, of the insidious manœuvres that had to be thwarted, the obstacles that had to be overcome, the adversities that had to be conquered, and all the challenges that had to be brilliantly met in order to remain and stand as one people, one nation, in one and the same country. Cameroon.
Each time, and there have been many, each time the demons of division and separation have manifested themselves, the response of our unitary DNA has been to strengthen our bonds even further. This was the case during the patriotic struggle for the independence of our country, a struggle that found the same echo on both sides of the Mungo River, erected as an artificial and contrived border by the guardian-turned-occupier.
The unitary DNA of the Cameroonian people manifested itself with unprecedented strength when our compatriots who had previously been conscripted into foreign armies, whether African or European, returned to their homeland. These heroes of another dimension abandoned their ready-made fortunes in subjugation to come and contribute to the consolidation of the foundations of the security of their people, our people, and the affirmation of the sovereignty of their country, our country.
In 1961, and again in 1972, the people of Cameroon proclaimed, with renewed strength and determination, their desire and decision to remain one, against all odds, against all shadows and illusions.
In this year 2025, and for the 53rd time in a row, on Tuesday, 20 May 2025, the sons and daughters of Cameroon will celebrate with contagious joy the never-lost and always-preserved unity of a people that has remained proud in the face of the blows of adversity, determined to bring down this fortress of Central Africa that stands in the way of the predatory ambitions of foreign powers and their multinationals.
By virtue of its undisputed status as the Crucible of National Unity, the Cameroonian army is at the forefront of the preparations, just as it will spearhead the grand military and civilian parade that will take place in the 10 administrative Regions, 58 Divisions and 360 Subdivisions that make up the national territory. And while they are preparing for the Festival, our soldiers remain on permanent alert, because the enemy never sleeps.
Let us remain vigilant !!!
