Honor and Loyalty : Army & Youth: united in thought and aspirations

Youth, backbone of the Nation; nowhere is this analogy more relevant than in the Army, and several reasons attest to this.

Firstly, there is the relevance of the reciprocity of attraction, identical to each other, with the Army finding in youth the inexhaustible source of youthfulness that enables it to constantly renew its vitality, and youth embracing in the Army the possibility of making a dream come true.

There is equally the relevance of the pooling of capacities and forces to accomplish a noble and exalting duty. This is in reality, a multidimensional mission touching on almost all areas related to the security and well-being of our people.

Thus, in return for the resources it makes available, the Army expects the youth to have the Fatherland at heart and to be determined to defend it at all cost, at all times and wherever necessary.

In addition to this essential ontological foundation which is as much a matter of vocation as of conviction, young people wishing to serve in military uniform must possess good intellectual abilities; for the purpose of assimilating methods of reflection, mastering increasingly advanced technical systems, and appropriating processes of action which now go beyond human strength.

This justifies the physical, biological and psychometric tests, and other morality checks.

There is a set of prerequisites aimed at ensuring the health, abilities and probity of those retained at the end of the selection processes.

While emphasising on the Army, since it is represented here, it should be noted that the Army is in search of a capable, willing and above all sane youth population.

In these times of social and intellectual inversion, sanity is repeatedly polluted, distorted and manipulated by entities hostile to the sustainability of our ancestral cultures which centre on fraternity and the sacredness of the human person.

Perpetrators of such acts are entities opposed to the country’s development ambition. They are the ones behind the disregard for the codes of societal life and of life in general, the attacks on the authority of the State, and the destruction of infrastructure useful to our communities.

Through specious slogans accompanied by misleading images, stigmatising and ostracising speeches trivialising violence and crime, these negative forces want to make our valiant youth a generation of numbskulls, who sheepishly allow themselves to be led, especially to perdition.

Our dynamic, ambitious and responsible Cameroonian youth should be wary of these impostors. /-
