Day after day, theatre after theatre, war is conspicuously gaining ground. With increasingly violent bombardments, with technological and surgical prowess, with the crossing of red lines, between reprisals carried out and promises of counter-reprisals, the infernal spiral of escalation continues unabated, without the actors in this macabre scenario deciding to write the word END.
It seems that a certain public wants more, captivated by the intensity of the spectacle, and sharpened by the bloodshed, the devastation, and the misery of people condemned to the vicissitudes of wandering. An audience seemingly impervious to human suffering. But do they have any choice, given the casual way these events occur? Indeed, the marketing of war is in full swing.
But above all, it seems that this endless human tragedy serves the purposes of a few, focused on achieving their geostrategic positioning ambitions. Behind almost every speech lies the notion of pivoting, neutralising territories, supporting allies, conquering market shares and exploiting resources.
It’s easy to forget that the bloody events of this hegemonic rat race are unfolding before our eyes, on our soil, against our people and our interests. Nevertheless, the spontaneity with which armed groups emerge, their proliferation across our continent and the firepower at their disposal should be enough to wake us up.
Beyond the supposedly unbridgeable differences and incompatibilities between the allegiances claimed by one group and another, we can see the similarity of their modus operandi, the interpenetration of trafficking networks, and even the convergence of large-scale looting flows towards identical destinations. If not, to whom are the minerals and other valuables that have fraudulently fallen into the hands of armed terrorist groups being sold? Who benefits from the destruction of our economic fabric, the destabilisation of our institutions, the disintegration of our cohesion and the crumbling of our States?
Certainly not these groups of agitators, whose sole purpose is to act as a cover for competitors seeking strategic imprint in our country, which, as we all know, is Africa in miniature in terms of geomorphology,6 sociological diversity and natural resources. And in these times, made critical by the recurrence of climatic upheavals, the desperate race for inputs to promote the energy transition is putting our country in the spotlight of all sorts of mercenaries.

Let us not forget that in 1884, just 140 years ago, Africa and its wealth were already divided between the powers at the time. Yet, that didn’t stop them from taking up arms to control our continent. The years have passed, but the objective has not changed. What we are witnessing today, whether elsewhere or here, therefore seems to be no more than a preparation for the great confrontation.
However, unlike in the past, when we were forced to take the side of foreign belligerents, we must now defend our sovereignty. We must live our freedom. We must enrich ourselves with our wealth. To do this, we have an asset that nothing and no one can take away from us. It is the strength of our cohesion, the inexhaustible reservoir of the potential of our weapons. Let us remain vigilant. /-
