Cameroon - Honor and Loyalty : Mercenaries in Africa: No to the heroism of villains

While the inhabitants of the entire planet are overwhelmed bythe endlessly repeated sights and
sounds of an unlikely war in a theatre that is nonetheless accustomed to it, the seeds of a new outbreak of violence are being sownon our continent. The proof lies in the networks, not necessarily clandestine, of diversion to some regions of our countriesof arms suppliesofficially promised to other countries, not to mention the recruitment networks of peoplewho want to get richby pulling the trigger.


Messages praising the heroism of these villains are widespread on social media, with the addresses of recruitment agencies as proof. And for once, rarely enough to be noticed, neither the famous administrative documents nor any kind of qualification are required.Allyou have to do is declare your unspeakable love for one, and your deepest hatred for the otherto get the job.

And in order to better win the sympathy of the benefactors who are not really interested in such
considerations, some go so far as to denigrate the land of their ancestors, hoping, who knows, to be assimilatedafter the confrontation. ln any case, dreaming is allowed.


Except that reality is much less prone to fantasy, and it is highly likely, if not a bet, these
desperados of the trigger willend upreturning to the country in despair, with their pockets full and their hearts full ofrage. Out of conviction or opportunism, these mostly young people will have no choicebut to join the ranks of the former insurgent groups on the ground, without creating any. We will thus see strange tropical sources offire and blood blossom in different parts of the continent.

These insurgencies will beall the more devastating because they will be led by people trained
in the use of modern weapons, such as combat drones, whose endurance and multifunctionality
will allow them to monitor, track, target and attack. Not even mines and other portable anti-tank
rocket launchers could change the conflict situation from what it has been.


This is a golden opportunity for the security services, which have already risen to the occasion, to counter as far as possible the infiltrationof agents of destabilisation into our societieswho maybe driven by a desire for revenge in other parts of the world. For the time of reckoning will inevitably come. And whatever the position of our States, some will want to make them pay a heavy price.


ln that case, the battle in preparation will be multifaceted, long and relentless. Without fear and without concessions, with conviction, courage and determination, we all owe it to ourselves to rise tothe challenges that lie ahead. We must all shoulder the burden of our sovereignty internationally.
