Already three weeks that Cameroon is hosting the African football cup of Nations, a sports competition already at its 33rdedition.
By risking a point of the mid-term security situation, nowhere does it appear that this major event was disrupted by any incident directly or distantly related to terrorist threats recorded in certain points of our national territory, including those hosting a good number of encounters.
Such a scenario could only perplex even the most optimistic of observers, especially those who have not joined their voices in the heart of the catastrophic omens.
Obviously, the achievement of such a result could not be the result of chance alone, as logic dictates that the atmosphere of security in which the 33rdAfrican Cup of Nations is being held is the result of measures taken by the public authorities, measures implemented by the Defence and Security Forces, in composite with the population, in the inviolable respect of the Army-Nation diptych a tangible manifestation of Popular Defence.
In this register and with regard to the visible device, we note the reinforcement of border controls, the permanence and the multiplication of identity checks, without forgetting the presence of the Forces for the Maintenance of Order in the places of crowds, among other detection and preventive actions.
The same logic would dictate, all in all, that a window, however narrow, be left open to the possibility, however small, of a renewal of patriotism on the part of the seditious elements who, despite the factual contingencies, and while claiming an imaginary nationality, nevertheless remain aware of being above all Cameroonians.
This is how we achieve, althoughimplicitly, but in no way accidentally, what one would be tempted to call "sacred union".
Of those that only form around the defence of causes whose interest is well understood by the whole Nation.
The promotion and enhancement of the capacities and potentialities of Cameroon, the security and the well-being of our country do they not deserve that we silence our disagreements were it only for the time of an international competition?
Still, by coming on top of the many appeasement incitements initiated in the past, the current state of affairs will rather maintain the hope of an equally peaceful exit from the crisis in the near future.
The fact remains that the hope thus nourished cannot be superior. It requires from each and every one, a patriotic state of mind, civic behaviour, and civic acts.
Only then will we be able to transform the quiet currently experienced in our internal infighting into a viable cease-fire beyond the sporting interlude, the final state required being and remaining the advent of a peace of the brave around the national unitary ideal. /-
