Heart to the party, conscience at duty; this double psychological and moral posture embodies the personnel of our Defence and Security Forces, who are working to fine-tune final preparations for the National Day celebration - these same personnel who, more than ever before, ensure the security of Cameroon and its citizenry.
As the contours of the May 20 grand parade become clearer, rehearsals will gain steam, each soldier summoned to the occasion now having to instinctively know his place in the static or dynamic ensembles, nature, sequence and timing of the gestures and movements to be performed.
The ever-rising moralethus reflects the eagerness of servicemen to renew their enthusiasm for unity, in order to warm and further strengthen their ties with the people. This also explains theeagerness to lead themarch past procession in all their glory and splendour, to reiterate the allegiance of loyalty and fidelity that they owe to the Nation and its illustrious leader.
Throughout the national territory, the enthusiasm for the celebrations marking the Unitary State is such that each town wishes to have its own military parade. Also, any soldier of the Republic, wherever he finds himself, will feel the weight of the curious, admiring, but also serious and inquisitive gaze of an attentive, grateful and at the same time demanding people weighing on his shoulders.
In the meantime, increased and sustained vigilance will be given to the security of our borders, national territory, people and property.
Hostile intentionsagainst Cameroon no longer fall within the realm of geostrategic prospects, even less of anecdotal allegory, but of a sometimes dramatic reality. All personnel of our Defence and Security Forces must also know that they are custodians of a portion of our sovereignty, unity and pride. These are the cardinal foundations for social peace and national cohesion, which they must protect and, if necessary, defend with all their might, with all the intellectual, moral and material resources at their disposal.
In short, and while letting themselves be carried away by the festive momentum of the memorial victory over the camp of disunity, the Cameroonian soldier remains mobilised, at all times and on all fronts.
Happy National Unity Day!
