Honor and Loyalty : TotalEnergiesAFCON 2021: Total security success

Dozens of aerial movements impeccably orchestrated by our talented air traffic controllers.

Thousands of movements on our highways without any serious accident disrupting the flow.

Huge terrestrial and satellite traffic, maintained without a hitch by local technicians.

High quality sports, hotel and hospital facilities, and everywhere, a friendly atmosphere rarely witnessed elsewhere.

This observation isstronglycontradictedby the very people who, under the pretext of flashes of agitations here and there, had presented Cameroon as an area of high insecurity, and Cameroonians as a set of irreconcilable sectarian warmongers incapable of anything constructive.

Even the frontline news agencies had posted reporters in places reputed to be crisis-prone, on the lookout for the slightest security incident likely to fuel the argument of our detractors.

No security incident was recorded. Not even a social incident based on any misunderstanding between supposed anglophones and so-called francophones – an artificial divide, treacherously maintained, but which on the occasion of the 33rd football Africa Cup of Nations, will have demonstrated that it broke records of anachronism.

We Cameroonians have in fact proven to the world that beyond a purely conformist practice, harmonious living together and dynamic bilingualism which are engraved in our nature and our mind-set constitute the bases of our national genetic heritage.

And it is certain that the pre-eminent lesson of unity, cohesion, hospitality, dexterity and sportsmanship displayed by the Cameroonian people has continued to put to shame those who swore on our sharpdivisions, and by extension had announced the failure of the AFCON in Cameroon.

But after the event, the question that arises for us today is dowe go back to our words and tones or do wecontinue on the path that will have brought us so much achievement and success?

Returning to our old ways may be tempting, but it is fraught withmany dangers, such as the resumption of terrorist activity. That is to say, the attack on villages and the looting of crops, suicide attacks, the mining of communication channels, indiscriminate killings, the murder of our children in schools, the rape of our women and girls, and the destruction of our social amenities. Not to mention anti-social conduct, calls for identity withdrawal, all aspects that could make our future strides paths of uncertainty.

These are diametrically opposed to our aspirations for prosperity, well-being and peace, a strong incentive to stay on the wave of dialogue and reconciliation, which work together to steer the Cameroon ship, the only one that can carry us to the promised land of emergence. /-
