Honor and Loyalty : Unitary State Turns 50 : social peace and national cohesion on the agenda

Preserving social peace and national cohesion. On the occasion offestivities to commemorate 50 years of the Unitary State of Cameroon, this is the task explicitly reassigned to our Defence and Security Forces. Reassigned, because implicitly contained in their statutory missions which are, inter alia, to preserve the integrity of the national territory, peace, and the security of persons and property.

In view of the conscientiousness, accuracy and brilliance with which these missions are carried out, such a reminder might seem quite superfluous.

However, this civic and moral caution is justified by the intellectually and morally debilitating socio-political and media agitation that tends to repudiate and disqualify the irrefutable ontological foundations of the unity of the more than 250 tribes that make up the Cameroonian people.

This unity has been forged from time immemorial through trade, geographical proximity, sociological interpenetration, matrimonial diversity and ideological affinities.

The awareness of the identity inclination thus obtained is the antithesis of the ostracizing bi-tribalism advocated by certain unscrupulous minds, on the basis of an imported linguistic constant; as if our original tribal affinities only came into existence through the practice of English and French.

And it is precisely against these attempts to negate the history of our people that the architects, custodians and testators of our National Unity have risen up. In their youthful exuberance, and subjected to the insidious artefacts of foreign domination, these people had earlier on developed bonds of brotherhood which even today,help them to better resist the false narratives, the sophism of hatred, violence and murder.

As a matter of fact, the unitary spirit of the Cameroonian people lives on and gains traction over time and ages, impenetrable to the erratic aggressions of traitors to the nation, hirelings begging for submission from outsiders. These unscrupulous individuals, with their boundless greed, do not hesitate to persecute their venerable forefathers, just to satisfy the bigotry of their overlords.

The context thus clarified, and faced with the excesses of youths destroying what should be their point of reference, our Defence and Security Forces must exalt the strength of unity and the power of cohesion, by drawing inspiration from their national origin and their republican values./-
